The Marie Gown
Summer 2018
The Marie Gown was designed for prom of 2018. This dress was the first garment that I had ever designed. It marks the beginning of my path towards a career in apparel design.
The design of the gown was inspired by delicate, blossoming spring flowers, resembling the soft muslin and tulle used to create the detailed embroidery.
The skirt of the gown was designed to consist of two different materials to behave intentionally when in motion; the outer layer lighter in weight and sheerness to float freely, while the inner layer is heavier in weight and opacity to avoid the skirt from floating upwards to much when moving.
